Surgery

***WARNING*** This post will contain images which some may find graphic. If such images bother you, stop and ignore this post!

For those of you still following, welcome! I haven't posted in a while. But, there's a good reason for that! I finally had surgery to correct a congenital defect on my foot. (While I do have it on both feet, only one foot can be fixed at a time)

Here's a "before" shot.

You can see how one toe is much shorter than the others. This also means one joint is not in alignment with the others. It is painful, and has been for many years. A handful of surgeons have offered to fix it, but I was not comfortable with their technique. After much searching, I found a surgeon who specializes in my condition! I made a consultation, and was really pleased with what I heard.

Right before surgery. "Yes" this is the correct foot.

After surgery. All dressed up.

Here are the results so far. It's looking good, but I have a long way to go!

The scar you see on the heel is where the bone was harvested from to lengthen the metatarsal.

Whew, I think that's going to be all for now ;)
