Friday, July 4, Madilyn and Mommy went to Oklahoma City. Daddy stayed home to have some "boy time" with Duke. Well, that evening Duke managed to escape. I think maybe it was the fireworks that spooked him. Anyway, Matt set out to look for duke late that night. While he was out looking, he found another dog who was without a home. Feeling especially sorry for this dog, Matt decided to pick it up and continue on. He eventually came back to the house and found Duke safe in out backyard again. I guess the neighbors found him and returned him, leaving a note for Matt. I'm so glad he wasn't hurt!
We went to the vet to see if this other dog was microchipped, but no such luck. Now we're gogin to put up some flyers and see if we can find her home again. If we can't find her parents, I'm not sure what we'll do with her yet! Here's a picture of our newest (possibly temporary) family member:
On Sunday Grandma Merritt flew into town! She's is here watching Madilyn while Matt is at work and I am in orientation. Madilyn is loving all the extra attention! Here's a picture of Madi with Grandma, and also one of Daddy wearing her :)
